La Ribina, La Algarrobina: Plots of land available, various prices and sizes, on the western boundary of Desert Springs, with direct access from the Las Cunas – Vera road. They are all located in a relatively undeveloped region known as El Levante Almeriense. The semi-rural character of La Ribina has existed for many years and it is precisely the absence of tarmac and urban clutter that underlies its attraction. A second golf course is planned for the future within this development area. The Town Hall has classified this land as Urban land but it is possible that in the future they will wish to asphalt and light the lanes and the property owners may have to contribute to the costs. The gross prices of the plots have therefore been reduced by an allowance to meet this expense, not anticipated at present nor in the foreseeable future.

A dozen reasons why these plots offer an exceptional investment :

1. They are unique; the only villa plots for sale nearby Desert Springs

2. Bargain prices

3. Perfectly sized, for a custom built villa of your dreams

4. Detailed planning conditions easily verified

5. Good, flexible building regulation conditions

6. Flexible time limits in which to bulid your villa

7. Secondary infrastructure services in place at the boundary of each plot

8. A natural non-urban country feel. No tarmac kerbsor streetlights

9.Minimum community costs

10. Direct access to all facilities at Desert Springs; restaurants, bars, sports etc..

11. Desert Springs SL offers Privileged Non Resident Memberships to owners of properties at La Ribina

12. In today's restrictive planning world, these plots offer tthe best possible returns oninvestment

Local Area
The Mediterranean Sea washes the coastline of the municipality of Cuevas del Almanzora along a stretch of 14 kilometres and inland for 263 square kilometres. The rough and jagged coastline, interspersed with sandy shallow bays, is ideal for snorkelling and sunbathing. Villaricos is a small fishing village on this coastline, with a harbour and a marina, and an assortment of cosy tapas bars, shops and restaurants. The town of Cuevas del Almanzora is so named because of the many caves that were once inhabited in the Rio Almanzora valley, and in fact, some are inhabited to this day. Today Cuevas is a thriving market and farming town with a booming economy and rapid economic growth. Reknowned in Andalusia for it's Semana Santa, Easter, celebrations the old town of Cuevas has a certain charm. There are museums with artefacts dating from Neolithic times and the church is magnificent. The municipality is also home to Desert Springs Golf Resort, a desert style Arizona golf course, which enjoys world renown.

The present site of Cuevas was chosen by different cultures and civilizations that have written Mediterranean history: Greeks, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Iberians, Romans, Goths, Arabs and Christians, many of whom have crossed swords for its dominion and control. This area has been densely populated since the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods as the excavated sites in Fuente Alamo and Villaricos show. In 1488 Christian troops conquered the town without a struggle, the Arabs were subjugated and forced to espouse the Christian faith until their revolt and subsequent expulsion in 1570. Pirates were involved in the sacking of Cuevas in 1573 and it is still possible to travel through three centuries of art and nineteenth-century architecture by just visiting some of the local historic sites.

Cuevas is also the capital of motorcycling hosting the world Supercross championships and there are many other sporting venues being built as Cuevas also hosted events in the 2006 Mediterranean games.

Thursday is market day here when the streets are alive with vendors and shoppers and the local cafés are thronging with customers sampling the unique and flavoursome tapas. Sundays are market day at Villaricos, definitely not to be missed. The southern border of the municipality is joined to Vera, a small town approximately 10 km from the coast with superb beaches at it's eastern limit. Market days here are on Saturdays and is arguably one of the best in the area.
